Hi folks, just wondering what professional organizations do you belong to that you feel benefit you and your organization the most?
A few months ago I asked about websites we checked, but now I am thinking about the professional organizations and what do you get back for your dues and how much do you use the services provided.
Now there are some obvious major choices and I will list three...but I am really looking for the less obvious that are outside of these.
Many if not most chiefs belong to the International Association of Fire Chiefs Association
Many career Firefighters belong to the International Association of Firefighters
Many volunteers belong to the National Volunteer Fire Council.
Outside of these three, let's share what other organizations we need to belong to or subscribe to and why?

One that doesn't have any dues (yet) but a lot of benefit from the networking side is the State Urban Search and Rescue Alliance (SUSAR). We are an advocate for state-level US&R teams and personnel and have over 500 members right now. Website is www.susar.org

As an ex iaff 26 year career firefighter who was part of the founding members who brought firefighterveteran.com to the web the information regarding stress and post traumatic stress wounding to our front lines has and is being used extensivly by the younger generation of firefighters who are stepping up to the plate...so...being part of that has impacted the stress educational outcomes.....being a part of the web blog here has also produced some dramatic traffic increase on the web .
